A Week of ceramic discoveries: Pit firing and raku workshop in Čakovec
Our ceramic adventure continued in Čakovec, where we had the opportunity to take part in a pit firing and raku ceramics workshop led by a true master of the craft, Čazo Čazim Mehmeti. This week was a real discovery — a time to learn, create, and connect with incredible people, all in a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere.
Čazim welcomed us with immense patience and enthusiasm, generously sharing his years of experience, knowledge, and love for ceramics. Through everything we worked on, it became clear that he is not only a teacher but also a true artist who showed us how to combine fire, smoke, and clay into one unforgettable experience.
A heartfelt thank you to Čazo Čazim Mehmeti for everything you shared with us. Your passion and dedication made this workshop not only educational but also deeply inspiring. Your warm approach, guidance, and advice helped us feel confident, motivated, and excited to experiment and create.
We would also like to extend a big thank you to the Construction School in Čakovec for kindly hosting us and making this experience possible in their space. Without their support, none of this would have been possible.
And of course, thank you to all the participants with whom we shared this creative journey. It was a true pleasure learning together, exchanging ideas, tips, and plenty of laughter along the way. This week will always remain in our memories as a beautiful example of ceramic community and togetherness.
Our time in Čakovec was truly special. Although we already had some basic knowledge, this experience elevated us to a completely new level. We learned not only techniques, but also how to truly enjoy every moment of the creative process, because ceramics is not just an art form — it is a journey, and every step leads to something extraordinary.
Thank you, Čazime, for your magic, your patience, and your invaluable guidance. We look forward to future meetings and all the new creations that will come from the knowledge and inspiration you shared with us.
Pit firing and raku ceramics require both courage and trust in the natural elements. Every piece we created became a small miracle — from the unpredictable patterns to the incredible colors shaped by the fire itself.
Every bowl, every vessel, every piece carried its own story, and each one was completely unique, just like the people who created them.
