A Week of Ceramic Discoveries: Pit Firing and Raku Workshop in Čakovec
Our ceramic adventure continued in Čakovec, where we had the incredible opportunity to participate in a pit firing and raku ceramics workshop led by the one and only Čazo Čazim Mehmeti. This week turned out to be a true discovery – we were learning, creating, and connecting with amazing people, all in a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere.
Čazo welcomed us with a huge amount of patience and enthusiasm, sharing his years of experience, knowledge, and love for ceramics. Through everything we did, it was clear that he’s not just a teacher, but a true artist who showed us how to combine fire, smoke, and clay into one unforgettable experience.
Pit firing and raku ceramics demand both courage and trust in the natural elements. Every piece we worked on turned into a little miracle – from the unpredictable patterns to the stunning colors created by the fire itself. Each pot, each piece we made, had its own story, and every single one was unique, just like us.

The week in Čakovec was truly special. Even though we already had some basic knowledge, the experience we gained there really took us to the next level.
